Azure IoT Edge supports Ubuntu Core Snaps
In collaboration with Canonical, Microsoft has expanded its Tier 1 supported operating systems to include Ubuntu Core Snaps on AMD 64 and ARM 64 architectures.

Azure Maps Native SDK for Android and iOS will be retired
Heads up for developers using Azure Maps Native SDK for Android and iOS! Microsoft is retiring this SDK on March 31st, 2025.
To ensure a smooth transition, they recommend migrating to the Azure Maps Web SDK integrated within a web view. The Web SDK Map Control version 3 offers several enhancements, detailed in the official release notes.
Don't worry, you can continue using the Native SDK until the deadline. However, after March 31st, 2025, your app's data and functionality will be lost. For a hassle-free migration process, check out the resources provided by Microsoft to guide you through switching to the Web SDK.

Azure Maps Web SDK Map Control version 2.0.x and Azure Maps Service Module will be retired
Attention Azure Maps and IoT developers! A heads-up regarding upcoming product retirements. Azure Maps Web SDK Map Control version 2.0.x and Azure Maps Service Module will be discontinued on September 30th, 2026.
To ensure uninterrupted service, Microsoft recommends transitioning to the latest versions: Azure Maps Web SDK Map Control version 3 and Azure Maps JavaScript REST SDK. Version 3 of the Web SDK Map Control offers various improvements, while the JavaScript REST SDK provides enhanced stability.
There's no need to rush – you can continue using versions 2.0.x and the Service Module until the deadline. However, after September 30th, 2026, applications relying on these versions will cease functioning, and associated data will be lost. To make the migration process as smooth as possible, Microsoft provides resources to guide you through the switch. Don't wait until the last minute – start planning your transition today!
